Zhongshan Village in Dongshan Township, Yilan County, is a pomelo producer. Growing thriving in a non-toxic, organic environment, with clean soil and clear water, the pomelo trees are known for their delicate, sweet, and juicy flesh. Most notably, the pomelo trees bloom from March to April each year. After the fruit sets, the farmers drape the trees in a white wedding-like netting to protect them from pests, light typhoons, and UV damage. This netting provides a protective shield, eliminating the need for pesticides and increasing yields. Every September and October, the trees are lifted from the white netting for the harvest. The pomelo trees in wedding veils have become one of the most distinctive sights in Zhongshan, Yilan.
